FREE ENTRY Jimmy Tingle: The “Radical” Middle – Why Would a Comedian Run for Office?

November 3 @ 8:15 pm

Free

FREE – RSVP below to guarantee entry.

Jimmy chronicles his fascinating transition from a life as a seasoned comedian to a desire to enter into politics, for real this time.  The event is both a live viewing of the film followed by a live Q&A with Jimmy.

He applies his distinctive Boston brand of humor to solve some of America’s most complex problems.

This original and autobiographical film challenges audiences to move beyond the politics of tweets, sound bites, and the nightly — or hourly — news cycle… and into the realm of long-term thinking and life-affirming possibility, as the United States faces the election of 2024 with a myriad of emotions, passions and theories.

Through the lens of common sense, comedy, commentary and conversation, Jimmy aspires to contribute to the national dialogue in a hopeful, positive — and funny — way as America strives to create, in the words of Abraham Lincoln: “a more perfect union.”

Jimmy’s ingenuity and deep compassion provide a much-needed and thought-provoking antidote to the politics of our day.

Watch this 50-minute compilation of stand-up performance, historic footage and at-home interviews to remember the healing power of humor; and it just might help you get to the polls in November.

Doors 8pm;   Show starts at 8.15pm

Quotes and Reviews

Excellent! Hilarious! Very meaningful and laugh-out-loud funny!”

– Steven Wright, comedian

“Martin Luther King, Jr., Winston Churchill, and Jimmy Tingle all spoke on the Sanders Theatre stage at Harvard University, and I can guarantee you Jimmy Tingle got the most laughs… …gets my vote for Best Political Comedy film of the Year.”

— Paula Poundstone, comedian

“Government Matters! That’s why a comedian runs for office. Jimmy Tingle, with humor and cracking wit, uses common sense to protect the common good from those who would tear down its essential political structures. No Joke. This is Tingle at his best.”

– James Carroll, Author, Columnist

“Interspersing the classic stand-up format with film clips from around the world and personal asides…

…this film is a big winner.”

– Ira Wood, Producer/Host, The Lowdown, WOMR-FM

“Jimmy Tingle is so much more than a comedian who ran for office…

Tingle tells us some hard truths, and somehow makes us laugh while doing so.”

– David Balsom, CK Communications Group
