We are open 7 days a week, except for a few holidays (even we need a break from laughing). Doors open at 6pm most days, and sometimes earlier at weekends.
Not yet 42 years ago (1996), yet a long long time ago and certainly pre-pandemic, Rick Jenkins opened The Comedy Studio in the attic of a Chinese restaurant. Through ups and downs, through different Camberville locations – the intersection of old skool artistry and progressive viewpoints/performance – the Studio has found a long term home in Harvard Square.
The Comedy Studio remains Boston’s most unique stage for comedians and other artistic performers in an intimate and inclusive environment for theatrical lovers and performers. Winner of the “Best of Boston, Best Comedy Club” for three consecutive years by Boston Magazine.
Now under new management, a key goal of the Studio is to be “where entertainers come home” when in Boston. This inevitably means being welcoming to one and all, an occasionally eclectic mix of attitudes and a space to experiment. Entering means accepting all of humanity with tolerance, even if not agreement, yet always with a smile in your heart.
The Comedy Studio features an array of emerging and world-renowned comedic and artistic talent. But don’t take our word for it. Frank Smiley, senior producer of Conan said of The Comedy Studio, “I consider it the greatest comedy club on earth.” We agree. And we want more… we will push beyond our core of stand-up, we welcome new forms which will entertain.
Our typical line ups and schedules vary but are based around the following acts and performances:
Monday – Music / Spoken Word / Trivia
Tuesday – The biggest Open Mic in New England, jokingly called “Comedy Hell” – runs until no-one is left
Wednesday – Headliner “An hour with…”
Thursday – 3-5 people, featuring a longer set
Friday & Saturday – Top talent showcase with 5-6 people and regular drop-in special guests
Doors at 9pm / Show at 9:30pm

James Camacho is a NYC based comedian via NJ. James is an only child that grew up with a Chinese mom and Puerto Rican dad. He has a great uniqueness, likability, and boyish charm that make him one of the most hilarious and polished young comedians out there! At least that’s what he thinks! James will be appearing on Kevin Hart's LOL Network. He has been seen on "Kevin Can Wait" on CBS, "A Crime to Remember" on the ID channel, & on commercials for Parker Waichman, Dunkin Donuts, ESPN, & Vice.
He just filmed a role in the upcoming movie, "God the Worm" with Willie Garson & Annabelle Sciorra, & was in the movie, "What Happened Last Night" with Amber Rose, & the movie, "The Golden Phoenix. He also appeared in Jay-Z's music video for "I Got the Keys" with DJ Khaled, & in a viral video for Cosmopolitan.com. He has a podcast centered around high school called, "I'm Just A Kid!". His home club is The Comic Strip Live in NYC, where Jerry Seinfeld & Adam Sandler shot their Netflix specials.
In a time of political turmoil and social unrest James' point of view & comedic tellings of his mixed heritage, and personal and dating life is enjoyable and relaxing for everyone. Follow him @CAMACHBRO on Instagram for funny videos and on Twitter for daily jokes! James started comedy as an English and Theater student at Rutgers University. It began as a way for him to tell the jokes he wrote in his short stories and screenplays. Now stand-up has moved to the forefront.
